It sets standards for the profession, awards CMI qualifications from Level 3 to Level 8 (including coaching and mentoring qualifications), confers Chartered Manager and Chartered Fellow status, and supports members with research, resources and continuing professional development.
It works with universities, training providers and employers rather than delivering most training directly.

Doing a CMI Level 7 Award turned into a confusing, unprofessional experience, the course provider went bankrupt mid-course, support was unhelpful, and no refund was possible; CMI only offered to find another provider and pay again.

Student (affiliate) member for over 6 months. Submitted an assignment and CMI missed its stated 6-week marking turnaround with no response despite repeated emails. Considering switching to ILM instead.
